Dr Scott Dwyer is an energy specialist at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures. He has almost two decades of experience in researching and advising on clean energy within consumer, technology, market, and policy contexts.

In 2019, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) partnered with the UTS Institute of Sustainable Futures (ISF) to investigate the experiences of customers involved in ARENA-funded Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects. Nearly 100 reports from 20 ARENA-funded projects were analysed to produce insights on customer values and motivations, and on the customer journey of buying, installing, maintaining and retaining a DER product.

ISF delivered two customer insights reports. The first investigated the customer journey, identifying six key ‘ingredients’ contributing to a happy DER customer. The second explored customer values, proposing a values-based approach as an effective way to engage and tailor messages to many types of customers.

This webinar is the second in a series of eight webinars on consumer-centric energy, being held between October 2020 and February 2021, co-hosted by the Energy Transition Hub and the Climate and Energy College, sponsored by the Victorian Clean Technology Fund.
