In 2013, Nasim received her MSc degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Her thesis was on Chemical-Looping Combustion (CLC), a technology for carbon dioxide capture from fossil fuels combustion. After finishing her study she continued research on other novel carbon capture techniques in Chalmers University. In 2014, Nasim came to Australia to start her PhD, which investigates sustainability of bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) as a carbon removal technology, which she completed in 2018.
